There’s something timeless about Lou Benesch’s work. They appear here, in today’s world, but they could just as easily have come from times gone by, or from a future utopia. Animals, plants, human beings and fantastical creatures appear at their best. Under the Parisian artist’s brush, they are endowed with a fantastic life, around which magic and poetry revolve for a complete enchantment. Her brushstrokes, all curves and volutes, are matched by colors of marked substance and subtle frankness. The former La Cambre student seems to possess that mojo that is the prerogative of only a select few: the power to put our most extraordinary dreams on canvas. When you look at Lou Benesch’s drawings, you’re sure to travel far, and for a long time.
